As many other abroad students, we have got a handful of happiness and sadness, wild moments on the road and hard time in everyday life, culture shocks, and, the most precious one- finding out who we are. Thanks to this big adventure, we learn who we want to be and what we want to do at a quite early age.
Everything will be told by words and photos in “Get Lost. Be Found.”
Why “Get Lost. Be Found.”?
“Get Lost. Be Found.” is a collection of journals written in both Vietnamese and English, and photos depicting our life in the States through the scope of remarkable events, valuable experience, everyday life, and interesting people; mostly based on our trips around America. The ebook version of “Get Lost. Be Found.” will be published and uploaded for free as a gift of appreciation towards both good and bad things happening, people who have been here for us; and two countries which help us to find out our dreams and passions. Besides, we also publish the hard-copy version of “Get Lost. Be Found.” as a special gift for those who support us in this project.
At the point we were aware of our possibly limited time in the States, it came to our minds that we should explore as many places as possible, from big cities to forgotten towns, from national parks to remote farms. These trips have taught us numerous important lessons: checking up car, changing flat tires (as girls, it took us quite some time to learn), sleeping safe and sound in a car parked at a rest area with the heat turned off to save gas, eating instant noodles with hot water begged from convenient stores on the way during the whole trip. We have met interesting people: some of them we only probably saw once in a lifetime for they only stopped to ask if we need help, friends from everywhere who hosted us, students from top schools, and workers who work 24/7 in poor conditions. Humans of America help us realize that despite of its vast area, we always can find right people at right times.

Life is not filled of roses for abroad students. Life is never a monochrome canvas for anyone anywhere. Life is a rainbow, an endless and sophisticated spectrum for us to live it up. There were days before important exams we still had to get up and work. There were nights we had to pull an all-nighter to edit photos for clients or finish writings before deadline.
And yet those hard days have led us to new places some of which we even hadn’t thought of. This December, we will take a road-trip around America, from Dallas, TX to West Coast (California) then East Coast (New York). We chose Christmas since that is time of the year supposed for people to be at home with family, but here we are, in the United States and thousands miles away from our families. That will be the time for us to discover America – our second home – with Vietnam always at hearts. That will be the final journey marking the last pages of “Get Lost. Be Found.”
