The competition is part of this year’s celebrations to mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Canada and Vietnam.
First prize for the winner of the competition is a scholarship to study English or French, Canada’s two official languages, and Canadian culture for two weeks in Canada, including a cultural tour for the accompanying parent (either father or mother). First prize includes two return air tickets to Canada, tuition fee for the language program (English or French), accommodations, ground transportation, and living expenses during the two weeks.
The second prize winner will be awarded a Blackberry Bold Touch 9900, and the third prize winner will be awarded a Blackberry Curve 9320. In addition, 12 consolation prize winners will each receive a cool student kit.
The competition will include 3 rounds:
- Round 1 – Online quiz in Vietnamese
Contestants complete 20 questions about Canada on various topics, including history, geography, culture, education, society, entertainment, and sports
- Round 2 – English or French writing
Contestants will be given 5 random letters from the 26 letter alphabet (A-Z), and for each of the 5 letters, contestants must write a short essay describing why Canada is a great study destination. (Example: B-Beautiful, write a short essay about the beauty of Canada, or Q-Quality, write a short essay about the quality of Canada’s education).
- Round 3 – English or French speaking
Based on the grades from Rounds 1 and 2, a short-list of 15 contestants will be selected for a final interview to determine the winners of the competition and the granting of prizes
