Fellowships Scheme in Australia, 2014

The Raine Medical Research Foundation offers International Visiting Research fellowships Scheme in Australia. The Fellowships are offered to facilitate the visit of international postdoctoral research scientists to the University and will bring new knowledge and techniques in medical research. International students can apply for the fellowships.

 

The fellowships are available for pursuing postdoctoral research programme. The duration of each Fellowship shall be for a minimum four-week period, with an unspecified maximum period, normally up to twelve weeks and the maximum contribution from the Raine Foundation for one award shall be $10,000. Application should be submitted till 7th October 2013.

 

Study Subject(s): The Fellowships are offered to bring new knowledge and techniques in medical research.

 

Course Level: The fellowships are available for pursuing four weeks, with an unspecified maximum period, normally up to twelve weeks research to postdoctoral research scientists.

Eligibility: Nominees shall be of a high academic standing and shall normally -
-be in the early stages of their postdoctoral research career;
-have demonstrated original concepts, skills or techniques in their chosen research field;
-have a proven outstanding publication record as first author in top international journals that have the highest impact factor in the particular field of medical science; and
-emanate from a discipline within a university that is ranked in the top 100 in the world.

 

Scholarship Description: The Research Committee of the Raine Medical Research Foundation has continued to acknowledge the benefits that can be achieved by attracting young international medical scientists to visit The University of Western Australia for extended periods. The Fellowships are offered to facilitate the visit of international postdoctoral research scientists to the University, will bring new knowledge and techniques in medical research; will facilitate the training of University staff and students, and who will initiate and undertake collaborative research.  Nominees shall be of a high academic standing and shall normally be in the early stages of their postdoctoral research career.

 

Duration of award(s): The duration of each Fellowship shall be for a minimum four-week period, with an unspecified maximum period, normally up to twelve weeks and the maximum contribution from the Raine Foundation for one award shall be $10,000.

 

What does it cover?  The value of each Fellowship shall consist of a return economy airfare plus a daily allowance at a rate set by the Research Committee of the Raine Medical Research Foundation.  The Fellowships shall be funded on a shared basis with the host School/Centre or Institute.  The Raine Foundation shall contribute 70% of the total costs, and the host School or Centre shall meet the balance of 30%. The duration of each Fellowship shall be for a minimum four-week period, with an unspecified maximum period, normally up to twelve weeks and the maximum contribution from the Raine Foundation for one award shall be $10,000.

 

Selection criteria: The Fellowships shall be offered on a competitive basis with “excellence” as the principal criterion.
The selection criteria for an award shall be based upon -
-the quality of the nominee in terms of scientific achievements, track record, and  university ranking; and
-the contribution that the visiting fellow would make to the School or comparable academic unit and the University.

 

Notification: Applicants notified by November 2013.

 

How to Apply: The mode of applying is by post. The Nominating School is asked to please provide four copies of their completed nomination form, including the nominee’s curriculum vitae.
