Brisbane shines in global university cities index

Brisbane has been ranked 21st out of 80 cities rated in a global university cities index; the second highest of any Australian city behind Sydney.
The Economist Intelligence Unit’s Sea Turtle Index ranks the cities by potential educational, financial and real estate-related returns as well as work experience and social experience.

Brisbane did best in the work experience category which scores cities on the work and pay prospects for international students. Our city came in at seventh best in the world.

On financial return Brisbane was ranked higher than Sydney, Melbourne and Perth while equalling Adelaide.

The social experience for students here was considered equal with Melbourne with the index awarding Brisbane 100 percent for its ‘openness and diversity’.
These rankings are the best yet achieved by Brisbane and are a great endorsement of the messages being pushed by Brisbane Marketing Export team in its ongoing work to attract international students to our city.

The report reinforces Brisbane Marketing’s efforts to promote Brisbane’s first-class education sector, its strong economy, affordability, lifestyle, beautiful weather, efficient transport system, safe environment and friendly locals.

International students here benefit from a wealth of post-graduate career opportunities. They are also supported by scholarship opportunities, the Brisbane International Student Ambassador program, the Brisbane Welcomes International Students festival, and Friendship Ceremonies with Lord Mayor Graham Quirk and other initiatives.
